TOHAV

TOHAV/TRC is a reference centre that plans and coordinates medical, physical, physiological and social treatment programs to individuals and groups who have been subjected to torture or ill treatment at the several processes of custody or imprisonment. This report aims at providing data on both the formats and processes of the help offered by our centre and also the charecteristics of torture survivors.

The declared numbers in the report point out the patients that the capacity of our center can meet. An obvious fact is that the actual number of the torture survivors are far more than the total number of applications in our centre. The most obvious fact of all is that tha torture and ill treatment are ongoing in Turkey. As a matter of fact, 12 torture survivors has applied to our centre in only the first month of 2008. This is more than the number applicants per each month all through in 2007. This fact unfortunately leads to prediction of the torture to be increased this year. Our foundation will continue works of help and efforts towards a complete annihilation of torture as a humanity crime.
